MadWifi works, just about as good as writing your own driver, however just like writing your own the MadWiFi solution requires intitiation after every kernal update, which there are many of with Ubuntu.
I may give it another try, after reading that post you provided in your reply I feel enthused again.
However,I seem quite happy with Vista for now, so I won't hurry.

I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire ONE netbook to 8.10, and although I'm very much a lover of Ubuntu I was disappointed by the continual lack of built in Atheros wifi driver. Additionally, after each kernel upgrade I am forced to rewrite and re-initiate the drive, which is really bad. When Ubuntu have this sorted I will put Ubuntu back into action, but in the mean time I will be sticking with Vista on my ONE. Shame really, because my old Acer Extensa 5620 ran 8.04 flawlessly for months! I even have a 'powered by Ubuntu' sticker that I sent off for on my ONE! Ah well.
