hi naz. you missed something. well some additional notes if you dont mind…

i also read this somewhere so im sharing it.
before you do a firmware update, make sure you have

disconnect wireless clients

1.BACKup,
2.then flash your new firmware,
3.click the factory defaults link
wait for the power light to get solid in each step before clicking continue
4. restore BackUp

I like Linksys mainly because it’s from Cisco and the ability to customize it using third party firmwares.

Nazham – since my router now also have an OpenVPN server, one day we should try connecting our routers via the Internet and play multi-player Xbox games.

ok i had a bad experience with belkin g wireless router. my wife disconnext (yellow light every 5 minutes)

linksys – is it good? how much it would cost now?

I suggest that you invest in a normal surge protector, not an expensive one. Modems and routers are exposed to the problem simply because they are connected to the phone line. It first hits the modem and if you’re unlucky it’ll hit the router too. In some cases only the power adapter is fried.

I have no lightning protector whatsoever. . So, in case of lightning it’s gonna hit my Streamyx modem, wireless router, or both? Better get me one of those.

Interesting you mentioned lightning. My router has survived a bad lightning case where my Aztech modem and my cordless phone went dead. Perhaps you’re right I have a Belkin SurgeMaster – but the two FUBAR equipment was connected to it too

hmmm..look like you all using Linksys router. I have bad experience using Linksys router. It’s easy to get strike by lightning. Maybe because i’m not using regulator…
